Our Townhouses are made of all steel walls as well as steel trusses.  There are 3 walls that seperate your house from your neighbors, one of those walls is a firewall that has 2 layers of 5/8 fire-proof sheet rock on each side. 
Below the firewall is a 6" curb that protects you from flooding.
